Keeping in touch with your pilot shouldn't be a hassle. Droners.io gives you two ways to message pilots, so you can pick the one that fits how you work.
This guide covers both plus a few things to know along the way.
Option 1: Chat from the job page (traditional method)
This is the original chat method. If you like keeping each conversation tied to its job, this works exactly as it always has.
Step 1: Open your job
Log in to your Droners.io dashboard and go to My Jobs. You can open an active job or a completed one.
Step 2: Click "Chat with Pilot"
Inside the job, click Chat with Pilot. This opens the message thread for that specific job and pilot.
Send messages back and forth here just like before. Each job keeps its own separate thread.
Every job has its own chat, so conversations never get mixed up.
Option 2: Use the Messages tab (all chats in one place)
Tired of clicking into each job to find a conversation? The Messages tab pulls every pilot chat together in one view. It's the faster way to stay on top of multiple conversations at once.
Step 1: Open the Messages tab
Look for the Messages tab at the top of your screen. You can reach it from anywhere you're logged in.
Step 2: Find your conversation
You'll see a list of all your pilot chats. Your newest activity always sits at the top. So if you've done two jobs with the same pilot, you'll see two separate threads. Just pick the one you need.
How to send messages and attachments
The Messages tab does everything the job-page chat does. You get the full back-and-forth, plus the ability to share files.
To send a message:
Click the conversation you want to open.
Type your message in the box.
Add an attachment if you need to share a file.
Send it.
That's it. Your pilot gets the message, and you can keep the conversation going right from here.
How read and unread markers work
Wondering if your pilot has seen your message yet?
Here's what to look for:
Gray checkmarks: your message was sent but not yet read.
Green checkmarks: your pilot has read the message.
Red unread marker: you have a new message waiting on your end.
One quick glance tells you where every conversation stands.
What still happens inside the job
The Messages tab is great for talking. But a few actions still live inside the individual job chat. You'll need to open the job itself to:
Hire a pilot.
Send a bonus.
So while you can message from either place, some tasks call for the job page. When you need to hire or add a bonus, head back into the job.
Think of it this way: use Messages for conversation. Use the job page for the actions tied to that job.
