Sometimes a hire doesn't work out. Maybe your pilot messages to say they're sick and can't do the job. Maybe there was a mix-up when you hired them. Whatever the reason, if no work has been done yet, unhiring is the clean way to reset. This guide shows you how.
When to unhire a pilot
Unhiring is for situations that come up before any work starts. It's not common, but it happens. Here are the usual reasons:
● The pilot can't do the job. They got sick, had a scheduling conflict or something else came up.
● There was a miscommunication. The job wasn't what one of you thought it was.
● You've changed your mind. For any reason, you'd rather not move forward with this pilot.
Only unhire before the pilot has completed work. If they've already done the shoot and delivered, that's a different process.
Why unhiring beats canceling and reposting
Many clients assume the best option is to cancel the entire project and post it again. While that approach works, it's often the less efficient choice. When you cancel and repost a job, you have to start from scratch. New notifications go out aand you wait for fresh bids to come in.
Unhire instead and you keep everything. All your previous bids and inquiries are still there. This saves you from rebuilding a job you already have.
How to unhire a pilot
Here's how:
Log in to your Droners.io dashboard and go to My Jobs.
Open the job with the pilot you want to unhire.
Find your two options: Request a Cancellation or Unhire Pilot.
Click Unhire Pilot.
Review and accept the agreement that appears.
Confirm to complete the unhire.
That's it. The pilot is unhired and your job is open again.
What happens after you unhire
Once you unhire, head back into the job to see what's changed.
Open the Bids and Inquiries section.
Here's what you'll find:
● Every previous bid and inquiry is still there.
● Only the unhired pilot's bid is removed.
So you keep all the pilots you were already talking to. You just clear out the one that didn't work out.
How to hire a replacement without reposting
This is where unhiring really pays off. Your other candidates are still waiting.
Go to the Bids and Inquiries section of your job.
Look through the bids you already have.
Review their bid amount and total.
Click Hire Pilot next to the one you want.
You've got a new pilot, no new job posting needed. And if this hire ever falls through too, you can unhire again and repeat the process.
